Senior Director, Asset Management & O&M

About the Role
PowerTransitions is seeking a Senior Director of Asset Management & O&M to serve as a key operational leader responsible for day-to-day management and optimization of our operating and transitioning power generation assets. Reporting to the Head of Asset Management & O&M, you'll drive operational excellence, maintain reliability targets, and support strategic objectives across our portfolio of natural gas and hybrid renewable assets.
This role requires strong technical expertise in power plant operations, hands-on experience in ISO markets (PJM, MISO, NYISO, ISO-NE), and proven leadership in O&M environments. You'll work closely with engineering, commercial, and construction teams, ensuring seamless integration of operational best practices throughout asset lifecycles.
What You'll Do
Oversee day-to-day operations of assigned facilities, ensuring production, reliability, and availability targets are consistently met or exceeded
Support market participation activities across PJM, MISO, NYISO, and ISO-NE, ensuring compliance with market rules and operational protocols
Coordinate outage planning and scheduling with commercial teams to minimize revenue impact while maintaining reliability obligations
Develop and execute maintenance programs in partnership with O&M contractors and LTSA providers
Manage OEM relationships (GE, Siemens Energy, Mitsubishi Power) to ensure warranty compliance and technical support
Ensure compliance with FERC, NERC, EPA, and ISO-specific reliability standards and cybersecurity requirements
Oversee O&M, LTSA, and service contracts, managing vendor performance through KPI tracking and issue resolution
Manage OpEx budgets for assigned assets and prepare CapEx requests for major maintenance and capital improvements
Build and develop operational talent, fostering a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence
What We're Looking For
Required:
Minimum 10 years of experience in power generation operations, asset management, or O&M leadership roles
Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical) or equivalent combination of technical training and relevant work experience
Strong understanding of ISO market structures (PJM, MISO, NYISO, or ISO-NE) and their operational requirements
Demonstrated experience managing combined-cycle, simple-cycle, or peaking facilities through operational lifecycles
Experience with O&M contractor management, LTSA administration, and OEM vendor relationships
Track record of meeting or exceeding operational and financial performance targets
Preferred:
Master's degree in Engineering, Business, or related field
Professional Engineering (PE) license or PMP certification
Proficiency with CMMS, SCADA, digital historian systems, and operational data analytics tools
