Senior Associate, Finance

About the Role
PowerTransitions is seeking a Senior Associate, Finance to play a key role in the Company's growth and expansion. Reporting to the Senior Director, Finance, the candidate will be responsible for managing the day-to-day accounting and finance activities related to multiple operating power plants, serving as a liaison between the finance function and plant personnel.
This role is ideally suited for an individual who has an ownership mentality, excellent communication skills, can navigate between multiple tasks, and has a deep understanding of power plant financial activities.
What You'll Do
Serve as the primary liaison between the finance team and plant management to ensure alignment on all accounting functions and financial reporting requirements
Provide day-to-day financial guidance to plant managers, including delivery of regular performance reports, cost tracking, and analytical insights
Lead coordination and preparation of the Five-Year Business Plan, including capital expenditures, maintenance budgets, and indirect overhead allocations
Monitor and manage operations and maintenance (O&M) expenses and capital projects daily to ensure budget compliance
Prepare variance analysis on a monthly basis
Assist in the creation and refinement of executive-level financial presentations and strategic updates
Prepare and review accounting adjustments, approve monthly accruals, and assist with tax issue resolution, headcount/vacancy updates, and forecast revisions
Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies for operating power plants and ensure adherence to policies
Assist in implementation of accounting systems including ERP, billing systems, and other plant management software
What We're Looking For
Required:
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or economics
8+ years' experience in an accounting or finance function for operating power plant, including or in addition to at least 3 years in a role serving as a liaison between accounting/finance and operations
Strong PC skills including ERPs, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Prior experience with online file storage and file sharing platforms such as Box and SharePoint
Strong understanding of GAAP (generally accepted accounting principles), including accounting for O&M and capital expenditures
Knowledge of plant operations and financial impacts of outages
Detail oriented with a high degree of accuracy
Ability to communicate effectively and interact with senior management, as well as plant operations personnel
Excellent time management skills, a self-starter who can manage their tasks in a remote setting
