About the Role
Reporting to the Head of Mergers & Acquisitions, the Director of Mergers & Acquisitions leads the evaluation, structuring, and execution of natural gas-fired power generation asset acquisitions. You'll provide leadership across the full transaction lifecycle and supporting active transactions.
This role plays a key part in advancing portfolio strategy, ensuring disciplined underwriting, managing transaction risk, and driving execution from initial opportunity screening through closing and post-acquisition transition.
What You'll Do
Lead end-to-end execution of acquisition transactions involving natural gas-fired power assets from initial evaluation through closing
Drive transaction strategy, structure, and negotiation in collaboration with senior leadership
Review, challenge, and approve asset-level financial models and valuation analyses prepared by deal teams
Evaluate power market revenues, fuel supply dynamics, operating costs, regulatory considerations, and return profiles
Direct and coordinate commercial, technical, environmental, legal, regulatory, tax, and insurance due diligence workstreams
Monitor power market fundamentals, regulatory developments, and industry trends across key RTO/ISO markets (ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, NYISO, SPP)
Lead, mentor, and develop acquisition team members including Vice Presidents, Senior Associates, Associates, and Analysts
What We're Looking For
Required:
8-12+ years of experience in investment banking, private equity, corporate development, or energy-focused advisory roles
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Business, or related field
Proven experience leading acquisition transactions involving power generation or energy infrastructure assets
Demonstrated experience managing deal teams and interfacing with senior executives and investment committees
Strong financial modeling, valuation, and transaction structuring expertise
Solid understanding of natural gas-fired generation economics, power markets, and regulatory frameworks
Preferred:
Advanced degree (MBA or similar)
